Happy Birthday

today is john's birthday so this blog is about him. first, i got this questionaire idea from my aunt anny who did this for my uncle on fathers day and i did it for john today. i asked mikenna and treston (since he is living with me right now) questions about john to see how much they know him. and since there is only two of them, i answered the questions as well so there were more answers. i put my answers under andon's name so that he could be involved as well. and then we asked daddy the questions to compare. second, i posted a lot of pictures in tribute to john and our family. 

oh first this is john's birthday cake. mikenna made the card and we took a picture of it with the cinnamon rolls.

john is a wonderful husband and a great father. i love him so much and everything he does for me and our family. he takes care of us and i am so grateful to have him as my eternal companion. happy birthday honey!!!

Donut Disaster

last night, john and i were watching the food channel on tv and saw a show about donuts. during the show, i totally started to crave donuts and i love donuts, so john suggested that we try to make some. we looked up a recipe to home made donuts and some glaze and decided to make some. big mistake and mess. first of all, after i made the dough, it raised for 30 min, at least it was suppose to. it didn't raise at all and it was very sticky, not even workable. and this upset me because i know how to make dough and stuff and it just did not work. anyway, i still wanted to continue cooking so john helped me fry the donuts and i made the glaze.

at first, the oil was to hot and the donuts fried up in seconds and were very dark.  we thought they would still be okay until we opened them up and the inside was all doughy. so here is the pile of practice donuts that we made until we figured out how cooled off to let the oil get and how thin the dough should be. yucky, i know

this is the counter with the sticky sticky dough that we had to cover in flour in order to even work with

after lots of practice we finally managed to cook some donuts the right way. and this was a "circled" donut i formed

here is the glaze that was the only thing that tasted great and was made correctly the first time

after being in the kitchen for over an hour, we managed to fully cook and glaze some donuts that were edible

and finally, after a long wait, the kids were able to enjoy the few donuts holes we made and they did enjoy eating them

i must say, i did eat some donuts and they were good but i will not be making any more home made donuts any time soon

Fun With Treston

so here we are at the science center again. i posted a while back some pictures of the first time we went. but it was a lot of fun and there is so much to do. this time, my nephew treston is with us. to make a long story short, my sister janell is moving here next month and asked me to keep treston until she gets here so he can start school. so that is why he is with us. the kids had a lot of fun. here they are in the fun head shots with different bodies.

Riding Bikes

every night we go to get the mail and the kids love to take that walk. most of the time they ride the bikes. so here they are on are small ride to the mailbox.

Flying High

just about every night when john is home, him and the kids play on the ground. as soon as john lays on the ground, the kids jump on him like a moth to a flame. so after some rough house playing, this is what they do. john throws them in the air and they have a blast. here are some pictures of the kids in action.

Going For a Ride

we went to a wildlife museum the other day and in the back, they had a playground with these old historic vehicles. the kids had fun playing on them. this is a 1952 fire truck and the kids climbed all over it.
